"also reflects a different comfort Has good man outside or his. him or his relatives, an eye, a hand or whatever it was lost, he should be certain that if he suffers patiently for God's sake, he has at least all that with God the benefit to the price that he ( the loss) would not want to endure. "
(M. Eckhardt)

Who among us does not know the feeling of having lost something or someone? The first is - the loss of a case - not usually associated with excessive grief or personal suffering, yet certainly the latter - the loss of a loved one. The phenomenon of losing produced in humans, two different types of pain: the fear of something or someone - that is, the fear of losing this thing or person - as a pain in his future prospects. And "have lost (of something or someone)," the real, coupled with emotional pain and grief - grief as a result of a past event. But Meister Eckhardt says: Once again a consolation, even in this situation.

eye, hand, relatives and friends - no one would probably lose any of these things. In a way similar to our social environment, a spiritual body - in other words, a spiritual body. Therefore compares Eckhart losing a loved one with an amputation of our social body on the mental level. A normal-existing connection, the familiar and dear to us is suddenly no longer available.

The psychological consequences can be devastating. Depression, heartache, the absolute spiritual hopelessness But - says Eckhardt - are in this situation there is a glimmer of hope: the living God.

The Christian faith has always been a belief in the resurrection. A belief of the testimony, which must be not even the death of the last frontier of human life. A faith that gives us hope, even our loved ones we lost one day again.

And Eckhart says - based on this motif of the resurrection as the final victory of life over death - do not look at what you lost, but on God, you for all your pain, your sadness, your anger and will give your despair blessing and heavenly riches. Look at God, your spiritual wounds can heal.

There are heavenly treasures. There are spiritual riches which are given, which are etrtragen to the great spirit of life's sake, the biggest losses ready.

These heavenly treasures: what might be meant by that? I think we should these spiritual riches not too naive to imagine-looking child, but to understand in terms of adult spirituality. Those who had to endure great pain to win this - if he could handle the pain - spiritual maturity. The suffering of growth as a way of life so to speak.

This brings Eckhardt still sufficiently similar example: Jesus himself taught once again that there is no one is leaving this life mother and sister, father and brother to the kingdom of heaven's sake, not hundreds and thousands of mothers would, sisters, fathers and brothers again received - in this and the next world.

/ * is indeed a deliberate abandonment of his relatives and his personal environment, something different than if one of our loved ones are torn from our lives, but I think the mental phenomenon not achieve more, "of which our pain of loss at its core lies at the bottom is in this context teaches the same significance are .* /

Eckhart because of this tradition, it must be said thus: our loved ones are going through their absence a hundred times a thousand times better than they were during the time of our presence. And: to the emotional value of our pain, our suffering is God that reflect the spirit of truth and justice us good.

And - we may be sure - God will give us for their loss, an even greater blessing in the future. In the end everything will be fine.
